Hi, i have a user with an interesting word problem, so i am just going to try and replace the normal.dotm file with a good one Once you record a macro and save it in the normal.dotm. (word 2007, windows xp) my only problem is i can’t find the one which word is using

Go to c:\users\<user name >\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates, then find the normal.dotm and rename it You can save to the current document or its attached template but have to opt to do that This file will be automatically generated when reopen word
Besides, you could also enter %appdata% in windows search box
Then contine to find the global template normal.dotm. First, look in your user templates folder for a file named backup of normal.wbk. if it is there, delete the new normal.dotm if present and rename the backup normal.dotm Here is my page on how to find that folder The normal template is the repository of a lot of user customization and seems to be a target for all sorts of problems.
Tl;dr my normal.dotm file contains one macro But when i open it in word 365 and create a new file based on that template or try to save that template under a new name then all resulting files has this macro stripped off (contains zero macros). 5 where powerpoint stores default presentation file, opened each time program is started, a word's normal.dotm equivalent (if it exists) Or how can i change some elements of file, that is always created, when opening powerpoint?
I don't even want to ask, as it seems such a simple problem, but i fear i have to, as none of the google suggestions worked for me
I am trying to replace the "normal.dotm" 9 i want to reset the normal.dotm template on a mac with the latest version of ms word (15.x.x) I found instructions on doing this on windows here What's the equivalent for mac word
Rationale for doing this is to try to avoid the problem addressed in this question. Is there solid guidance out there concerning the management of microsoft word in corporate environments where documents must conform to a standard look and layout How to manage normal.dotm (eg. Copy the normal.dotm file (autocorrect entries) from the intermediate location*
Lsu overview article will help if you are unsure how to do this
Paste the normal.dotm file in the following folder Short answer is that you do not The normal.dotm file is the default save location There is not an optional setting to make it anything else
That does not mean you have to save your macros there I have thousands of macros and seldom save one there
